Matt O'Farrell MRICS, Chartered Building Surveyor

I qualified as a Chartered Building Surveyor in 2015 and have worked in the construction and property industry for 15 years. OFHAUS LTD is my own independent practice, regulated by the RICS (Firm No. 5022208) and based in Kings Norton, Birmingham.

Every survey is carried out by me personally. You deal with the same person from your first phone call to the final report, and you can ring me to talk through the findings once you have read it.

Heritage and listed buildings

I have a particular specialism in older buildings: Victorian and Edwardian houses, timber frame, and listed properties. My background includes the restoration of fire-damaged listed buildings and surveying historic structures for clients including the Canal & River Trust, the National Trust, Moor Pool Hall Trust and others. If you are buying a period home, you want a surveyor who understands how these buildings were meant to work, not one who marks every old feature as a defect.

How I report

Reports are written in plain English. I tell you what the defect is, why it matters, roughly what it costs to put right, and whether it should affect the price you pay. No padding and no jargon.

Where I work

Birmingham, Solihull, Bromsgrove, Redditch, Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Stratford-upon-Avon and the wider West Midlands.
